HAMMOND, Ind. – After a scoreless opening 64 minutes, the 16th-ranked TU women's soccer team notched three goals in the final 26 minutes to pull away from Purdue Northwest for a 3-0 win on Wednesday afternoon.
The Trojans posted a 12-2 shot advantage over PNW (0-3) during the first half, but neither team found the back of the net before intermission.
The second period was more of the same, until senior Megan Kammer netted the game-winner from 15 yards out in the 65th minute to give the Purple and Gold a 1-0 lead.
In the 80th minute, junior Bailey Zehr converted a pass from senior Nikki Zaino into TU's second score of the contest, while Zaino's goal off a rebounded save in the 87th minute capped the scoring for the victorious Trojans.
No. 16 TU (5-1) will return to the pitch on Saturday when it hosts Aquinas (2-2-1) at 1:00 pm inside Turner Stadium.
