SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Taylor women's golf team fired a team score of 319 to finish in a tie for second place following the first round of the Pilot Invitational at Blackthorn Golf Club on Friday.


Freshman Nicole Jung, who claimed a victory in her collegiate debut two weeks ago, charged to the top of the leaderboard with a 3-over par round of 75 to lead the Trojans on day one.


Sophomore Maddie Thomas, the 2017 Crossroads League Newcomer of the Year, is tied for second following a round of 76 while Taylor also counted an 83 from freshman Taylor French and an 85 from junior Raquel Helton. Junior Elizabeth Jackson added an 87 for the Trojans.


Taylor is two shots behind #RV Saint Francis (317) and tied with the hosts from Bethel at 319. Crossroads League foe Indiana Wesleyan is in fourth place at 327.


The Trojans will return to the course for the final round on Saturday with the tee time slated for 9:00 am.
