SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Junior Alec Dutkowski fired a 3-under par round of 69 to propel the 13th-ranked Taylor men's golf team to the top of the leaderboard following the first day of the Pilot Invitational on Friday.


Dutkowski chipped in for eagle on the par-4 second hole and added three more birdies on his way to the top of the leaderboard.


Senior Mitch Lamping added a round of 1-under par 71 for the Trojans after rolling in a birdie on his final hole.


The Trojans also counted a 75 from senior Trey Turner while senior Nick Waskom and junior Jeremy Ray added a pair of 76's to round out TU's scoring.


The Trojans tallied a first-round score of 291 (+3) to take a commanding 10-shot lead over second place Indiana Wesleyan (301). Purdue-Northwest is next on the leaderboard at 303 followed by Holy Cross at 305.


Dutkowski holds the individual lead with Lamping tied for second place and Turner in a tie for ninth place.


The final round is slated to begin at 9:00 am on Saturday.
