MARION, Ind. - Three Taylor singles and one set of doubles advanced out of the first round of the ITA Regional Championships this weekend hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. The regional kicked off on Thursday with the conclusion being played on Saturday.


In singles, Stephen All, Alex Jung and Christen Jacquottet landed an opening-round win, advancing them into the top 32 of the tournament. All defeated Nicholas Marroquin from Marion 7-5, 6-2 before falling to Javier Alvarez from Lawrence Tech, who was seeded tenth overall in the 64-player field. Alvarez bested All 6-4, 6-2.


Jung defeated John Gerard from Indiana Wesleyan 6-3, 7-5 to advance to the second round where he was defeated by seventh-seeded Daniel Zolnikov from IWU 6-0, 6-1.


Jacquottet claimed a three-set victory over Lukas Kanther from Goshen 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 in his tournament opener before being bumped from the bracket by fifth-seeded Iustin Baciu from the University of Northwestern Ohio 7-5, 6-4.


After being bumped in the opening round, Jake Herbruck and Salvador Lo Cascio landed wins in the consolation bracket before bowing out in the second round.


In doubles, the tandem of Andre Danielli and Jacquottet recorded an 8-5 win over Aritha Weerasinghe and Eric Zuercher from Goshen 8-5 before falling to the second-seeded duo of Artur Culicovschi and Chisomo Lumeta from UNOH 8-6.


The Trojans (2-4, 2-3 CL) will return to league action on Monday as they travel to Mount Vernon Nazarene (0-6, 0-4 CL) for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
