SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – A trio of Trojans reached double figure kills to lead the Taylor volleyball team to a four-set victory over Spring Arbor on Saturday afternoon.

 

Senior Becca Gerig tallied a game-high 15 kills while fellow senior Rachel Bouma added 12 and sophomore Callie Drage finished with ten kills for the Taylor offense as the Trojans tallied a .182 hitting percentage for the afternoon.

 

The Trojans (11-4, 5-2 CL) opened the game with 25-16 win in set one while Spring Arbor evened the match with a 25-13 win in set two. Taylor edged the Cougars 25-23 in the third set and closed out the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.

 

Junior Haley Harrell dished out 37 assists and added a team-high 17 digs for Taylor while Samantha Korn added 16 digs and Gerig tallied 13 digs.

 

The victory was Taylor's third in a row and moves the Trojans into sole possession of third place in the Crossroads League standings with a 5-2 record in league play.

 

The Trojans will take a brief reprieve from Crossroads League play when the Trojans host IU East on Wednesday at 7:00 pm before hitting the road for games at Goshen and Mount Vernon Nazarene next weekend.
