WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The Taylor women's tennis team picked up their second Crossroads League road victory of the week on Wednesday by defeating Grace College (6-3, 3-3 CL) 7-2. The victory lifts TU (6-2, 5-2 CL) into fourth place in league standings, just one match behind Marian and Spring Arbor who are tied in second place.
The Trojans nabbed two victories on the doubles courts before nearly sweeping Grace in singles, winning five-of-six. In doubles, it was Courtney Clark and Taelor Grose winning on court No. 2 while Corrine Hoffman and Annika Zeilstra landed the most decisive win with an 8-3 victory in the No. 3 position.
In singles play, Alexa Kling, Grose and Mikayla Schultz each fell in their opening set but responded to win three-set matches in the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 positions, respectively. Katelyn Gray and Molly Pile scored their individual wins in two-set matches.
Before heading back into league play, TU will host Indiana University Kokomo (0-2) on Friday at the Meier Tennis Courts. The contest between Taylor and IUK is slated for 4:00 p.m.
