UPLAND, Ind. – The TU women's tennis team landed a decisive 7-2 victory over Spring Arbor (5-5, 5-4 CL) in the opening round of the Crossroads League Tournament. The fourth-seeded Trojans (10-3, 6-3 CL) now move onto the league semifinals and will face top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan (11-0, 9-0 CL) on Thursday.
The Trojans put a lot of pressure on SAU early by sweeping the doubles contests by final scores of 8-2, 8-4, 8-3. In the first meeting between Taylor and Spring Arbor, the Cougars earned a win in the No. 1 doubles position, but today, Molly Fletchall and Mikayla Schultz turned in the most lopsided win with an 8-2 final mark.
In singles, Alexa Kling, Taelor Grose, Schultz and Molly Pile closed the deal for TU by winning their respective contests in two-set matches. The overall 7-2 win is identical to the Trojans' regular-season win over SAU.
Next up for TU is a rematch with top-seeded IWU. The Wildcats made their way into the semifinals with a 9-0 shutout over Bethel. The contest between the Trojans and Wildcats will be played at IWU on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
