SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Taylor topped four teams ranked or receiving votes in the Top-25 Poll, en route to a second-place showing at the 14-team Bethel Invite on Friday night.
The Trojans placed each of their top-seven runners inside the top-32 in the field of 178 competitors, with their top six all posting sub-27:00 times. As a team, TU posted a time of 131:56 and ended with 83 points to finish 20 points shy of first-place and No. 15 Cornerstone.
Josh Roth, Stephen Cho, Joe Beamish, Tyler Koteskey, Sam Hardy and Garrett Henderson all ran their best times of the season, with Henderson and Hardy recording the fastest times of their careers for the second-straight race.
Roth led the way for the Trojans once again, as the freshman claimed fifth overall with a time of 25:52.4 for TU's fourth-fastest individual time of the season. Roth has now recorded Taylor's top finish in two-of-four races to open his career.
Cho followed with his best time of the year, posting a time of 26:15.1 to finish in 14th. The time was the seventh-best of the season for TU and gave Cho 14 sub-27:00 times in his four-year career with the Trojans.
Smith crossed in 16th with a time of 26:23.1 for his fourth-straight top-20 showing to open the year and Beamish crossed in 22nd with a time of 26:39.2 in just his second outing this season.
Ben Byrd ended in 26th with a time of 26:46.5, while Wes Noyes followed with a season-best time of 26:54.6 to finish in 27th. Andrew Runion rounded out TU's top-seven performers in 32nd with a time of 27:10.1
No. 13 Taylor (43-5) will take two weeks off, before competing in the Great Lakes Invite in Grand Rapids, Michigan on October 21.
