Jared Nies was named as the first-ever head coach for the TU men’s lacrosse program and started the building process at Taylor on June 1, 2017.

Nies came to Taylor after serving in the same role for two years at Judson University, where he had been tasked with working toward restarting the men’s lacrosse program for the Eagles.

Prior to taking the job of restarting the Judson program, Nies began his coaching career as a graduate assistant on staff at NCAA Division III power, Messiah College, after completing a four-year career with the Falcons. During his year on staff with Messiah, Nies served as the Defensive Coordinator and Recruiting Specialist.

In addition to his time with Judson and Messiah, Nies also served on staff with Wheaton Academy during the 2016 campaign and worked as a head coach at the club level. Nies has also been heavily involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes throughout his coaching career.

Nies boasts an extensive playing background as well, having played in 47 games with 41 starts on defense over four years at Messiah. During that time, Nies helped the Falcons to a 35-28 overall mark and a 25-18 league clip, while serving as a captain and earning all-league recognition as a senior.

Nies graduated from Messiah in 2012 with a degree in history.
