ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE INFORMATION
ARRIVAL: Your son will be expected to arrive on campus between 4:30 - 6:00 pm Sunday evening. He should report to Wengatz Hall located on the south end of our campus. You should plan to eat dinner before arriving at camp, but a snack will be served at approximately 9:00 pm Sunday evening.
Please be sure to bring a completed health statement form to camp with you which has been signed by a physician and dated within 12 months of the first day of camp indicating that your son is in good physical condition to play basketball. A blank Taylor form, which you may take to your physician to be filled out, will be emailed to you with your receipt for the deposit for camp fees or you can print one here. IHSAA or a physician's physical form are both acceptable, as long as they are dated within 12 months of the first day of camp. If you submit a physical form other than the Taylor form, you will still need to sign the Taylor form with consent to dispense Tylenol.
Also, a Camp Participation Waiver, Release of Liability and Medical Authorization Agreement must be completed and brought to camp. A blank form will be emailed to you with your receipt for the deposit for camp fees or you may print one here. Please attach a copy of the front and back of your insurance card to this form.
If applicable, please remember to pay the balance due on your registration online at least one week before camp. If necessary, the balance may be paid by check, money order, or cash at the Sunday night check-in.
DEPARTURE: You should plan to meet your son Thursday between 3:30 - 4:15 pm at Wengatz Hall where you dropped him off. After loading his belongings, you will come to the gym for the 4:30 pm basketball program and exhibition which will be concluded by 5:30.
-A week's supply of shorts, shirts, underwear, socks (two pairs a day), sleepwear, swimsuit. A sweatshirt or jacket for cool evenings or rainy days. A good sunscreen is suggested.
-Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, bed linen, blanket (or sleeping bag), pillow, washcloth, towels, and a Bible. Towels are furnished in the gym but not in the dormitory or at the beach. Portable fans are also recommended as the dorm rooms are not air-conditioned.
-Basketball socks, T-shirts, basketball shorts and two pairs of basketball shoes (one for indoor and one for outdoor). We recommend that the boys wear two pairs of socks during their games, as they play three games each day. A Taylor Basketball Camp shirt is given to each boy during the week. Souvenir shirts, shorts, and basketballs are also available for purchase during the week and on Thursday afternoon.
-A small bag or tote to carry items between the gymnasium and the dorm.
-Cell phones are discouraged at camp.
-Bottled pop and candy are available for $1.00 at the concession stand.
-It is strongly recommended that valuable articles such as watches, cell phones, electronic devices, etc., not be brought to camp. We cannot be liable for damage or loss.
We pledge that every boy who attends the Taylor Basketball Camp:
-Will be taught the basic fundamentals of the game of basketball with emphasis on individualized instruction.
-Will be selected on a team in his own age group and have a chance to play a complete league schedule.
-Will have the best care in food, housing facilities, and training rooms.
-Will be encouraged in their faith through instruction, Taylor Basketball testimonies from players and staff, and nightly devotions from the Bible.
-Will be given a camp basketball shirt.
-Will have close supervision at all times.
-Will experience a week of camp full of productive learning, competition and fun in a Christian based atmosphere.
TAYLOR BASKETBALL CAMP MISSION STATEMENT
While it is our intent that our camp continues to be one of the best anywhere when it comes to teaching the basic skills and concepts of basketball, it is also our purpose to model and represent the highest of Christian values for your son throughout his time with us.
We will do this by having Christian counselors trained in coaching and relational skills. The guest speakers we present will be people with spiritual values that are apparent in their performances. Campers will receive personal attention from their coaches and will be closely supervised at all times.
It is not possible to master the game of basketball in a week, just as life skills are not developed in that time, but we will plant the seeds for a lifetime of success.
