The 2014-2015 season is the second for Josh Andrews as the head coach of the Taylor men’s basketball program. Andrews is only the third head coach for TU since the start of the 1947-1948 campaign.

Andrews led the Trojans to a pair of victories over top-20 opponents during his first season at the helm, including a Senior Day win over No. 15 Bethel on February 18. The upset was one of several home victories for Taylor in 2013-2014, as TU went 9-5 inside Odle Arena.

Andrews came to Taylor after having spent two seasons restoring the powerhouse Middletown High program in Middletown, Ohio. The Middies went 32-17 under Andrews, winning back-to-back conference titles to end a 17-year drought for the proud program that boasts the most state championships in Ohio high school basketball history.

Along with the pair of conference crowns, Andrews led Middletown to sectional and district championships during the 2011-2012 season and was touted as the Greater Miami Conference Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2013.

Prior to taking the reins of the historic Middletown program, Andrews compiled an 80-18 record during four seasons as the head coach at Princeton High and led the Vikings to the 2009 Ohio State Finals for their first appearance since 1971. Princeton lost the title game, 60-58, to a Northland High squad featuring a pair of future NBA first-round picks in Jared Sullinger and Trey Burke.

During his time as the head coach at Princeton, Andrews also guided the program to a sectional championship in all four years at the helm and helped the Vikings to conference and district championships in each of his first three seasons. Andrews also served as the head coach of Princeton’s junior varsity squad for two years, going 39-1, before assuming the head coaching role at the start of the 2007 season.

Along with earning four GMC Coach-of-the-Year awards during his time at Princeton and Middletown, Andrews was also selected as the Cincinnati Enquirer Coach of the Year in 2008 and repeated the honor in 2009, while also being named as the District 16 and AP Ohio Division I Coach of the Year.

Andrews has gained additional experience by attending coaching clinics hosted by Nike, Xavier and Taylor throughout his career, while overseeing multiple youth camps and clinics around the Cincinnati area. Andrews was also actively involved in the booster clubs at Middletown and Princeton and was a regular in-season speaker for the Middletown Roundball Club.

After attending Taylor during his freshman year, Andrews went on to become a two-year team captain on the men’s basketball team at Union College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 2005. Andrews then earned a master’s degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2008.

Andrews and his wife, Ashley, are the proud parents of Alexis Sortman and Ava Andrews.
